Description

Our coach Scott Morgan from the Morgan Group is back! We will talk about how to prepare a talk about your scientific research and prep for a long talk, focusing on defenses and scientific presentations! This public speaking workshop will be useful for ALL graduate students! If you are pursuing a Ph.D., a Master degree, if you are a scientist and need pointers on how to improve your public speaking skills for your work, or if you are interested in participating in the 3MT competition, this workshop is for you!

This is a brunch workshop. The GSA at UMBC is our co-host.

This session will serve graduate students who want information and tips for planning a long talk. The session will also serve as a make-up session/preparation for those Ph.D. students who are interested in participating in the 3MT competition. Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) celebrates the exciting research conducted by Ph.D. students. Developed by The University of Queensland, the exercise cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.
