Description

This event will be taking place on September 15th, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

The summer has flown by, and the beginning of the academic year is upon us! We at PROMISE have decided to host an informal gathering at Commons 331 and hope you will join us. We will provide the coffee and donuts to share and invite you to stop to say hi and catch up with us and other graduate students. In addition, here will be an informal 15-Minute CIRTL Teaching certification Information session during this time as well.

Regarding the CIRTL Session: Learn about the nationally recognized teaching certificates that can be earned from UMBC's Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL). It's never too early to work towards building your CV, particularly if you are considering a career in teaching/academia. Earning these certifications is FREE for all UMBC graduate students & postdocs.

Attendees are not required to stay for the information session, you are more than welcome to pick up donuts and coffee and dismiss themselves from the room. However, you are also welcome to stay for the information session if interested.

We (Dr. Robin Cresiski and Yarazeth Medina) will be available to talk about the Grad Student and Postdoc Development Office (GSPD), PROMISE, the calendar of professional development events, interests, hobbies, and hopefully, create even more of an opportunity for you to meet fellow grad students in other departments. We would love to help you develop a deeper sense of community here on campus. If you just feel like stopping for free coffee and a donut, you are more than welcome to do so as well!

*Please click on "Going" below so we can be sure to have enough coffee and donuts for all who plan to attend.*

As this is an in-person event, please RSVP so we can be sure we are following safety guidelines per UMBC. Additionally, if you must cancel, please be sure to do it within 24 hours of the event's occurrence. While facemasks are not required, please keep them in mind as we continue to navigate in-person events.

If you need any special accommodations or have questions, please contact Yarazeth Medina at yarazeth@umbc.edu
